Mastro is an astrology software designed to support both enthusiasts and professionals in their practice. Its development began in 2009, initiated by François Rouleau, who is passionate about both astrology and programming. His goal: to create a tool that is complete, intuitive, and pleasant to use—one that reflects the natural and visual way astrologers work with a chart.

Mastro’s interface places the chart at the center of the screen, surrounded by tool panels that can be opened or closed as needed—much like laying out papers and notes around a printed chart. This approach is meant to provide a clear, flexible, and coherent workspace, aligned with the habits of astrologers and the expectations of serious astrology enthusiasts.

With the arrival of Vincent Godbout, Mastro gained a unique interpretation support feature known as the expert system. Based on his research into astrological factors and their probabilistic weighting, this system powers several of Mastro’s advanced features, including forecasting curves and interpretation keywords—for both natal and event-based analysis. These tools help highlight the most significant elements of a chart, while giving users full freedom to form their own interpretations.

Today, Mastro continues to evolve, staying true to its original mission: to equip those who wish to deepen their understanding of astrology in a professional, flexible, and inspiring environment.

The Team

François Rouleau

François Rouleau is a systems analyst and programmer with over 30 years of experience. He has been passionate about astrology since his twenties, and has combined his expertise and interest in the discipline to develop a unique understanding of its complex systems. Throughout his career, François has gained solid experience in technical writing, contributing to various projects where precision and clarity are essential.

In March 2009, he started the Mastro project—an innovative tool that brings together his programming skills and his deep knowledge of astrology, with the aim of supporting astrological practice through advanced solutions. His path has been shaped by a constant pursuit of excellence and rigor, both technically and philosophically.

Vincent Godbout

Vincent Godbout, B.A., B.Sc., is a mathematician, astrologer, and the designer of the expert system used in Mastro. He taught mathematics at the college level and is the author of books and courses on logic, differential and integral calculus, problem solving, and the history of mathematics. He discovered astrology in 1977, and in 1981 became the owner of an esoteric bookstore, where he was the first to offer computerized astrology services in Montreal. At the same time, he hosted the “Mystery Evenings,” an astrological divination game open to astrologers and the general public.

During the 1980s, in addition to consultations, he gave lectures on astrological research and cosmobiology. In 1988, he published a foundational article on his "probabilistic semantics" in Considerations magazine. This innovative approach led him to develop automated astro-linguistic tools designed to support astrological interpretation. He now devotes his time to the development of Mastro, to teaching, and to evidence-based astrological research. Since 2020, he has published nine articles in the British journal Correlation.

Vincent offers a birth time rectification service using a unique method rigorously validated by experimental results. This method is effective even when only the date of birth is known. Price: $185. He also provides a personalized annual forecast agenda, with daily entries based on generalized transits (aspects + midpoints). Price: $125.

Benoît Rouleau

Benoît Rouleau has over 15 years of experience in web development, a field in which he has stood out thanks to his technical expertise and ability to manage complex projects. As the person responsible for the Mastro Store transactional platform, he ensures its smooth operation, optimizes the user experience, and oversees transaction security. He also plays a key role in Mastro’s licensing distribution and validation system.

In addition to his technical responsibilities, Benoît occasionally provides customer support. Thanks to his versatility and professionalism, he contributes actively to the development and maintenance of the tools that support Mastro’s growth.

Vital Coron

Vital Coron has been studying astrology since 1977. His professional background is rich and diverse. After four years as an engineering assistant for a firm in Laval, he became the local and international purchasing director for a heavy equipment company for six years. He also owned an electronics business for 26 years.

In 2020, he joined the Mastro team and quickly became a key figure in the project, deeply involved in the software as its main tester and a regular contributor. Vital has become a valuable resource for Mastro users. He offers one-on-one training sessions on mastering Mastro, as well as on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. He also collaborates with Vincent on astrological research and has co-authored two articles with him in Correlation.
